Itinerary
Arrive at Paro International Airport and meet your local guide. Drive to Thimphu with a stop at Ta Chog Lhakhang, a 15th-century monastery associated with the famous iron bridge builder Thang Tong Gyalpo.
Visit the Postal Museum and enjoy leisure time exploring Thimphu town. In the evening, visit Tashichho Dzong, the seat of Bhutan’s government and central monastic body.
Overnight: Thimphu
Visit the National Memorial Chorten and observe local prayer rituals. Continue to Buddha Dordenma, one of the world’s largest sitting Buddha statues, offering panoramic views of Thimphu Valley.
Visit the Takin Preserve, home to Bhutan’s national animal. Enjoy a gentle Sangaygang–Wangditse hike with scenic views of the city and surrounding mountains.
Explore the Royal Textile Academy, Craft Bazaar, Simply Bhutan Living Museum, and the Weekend Market, showcasing Bhutanese culture and daily life.
Overnight: Thimphu
After breakfast, drive to Punakha via the scenic Dochula Pass (3,110 m), featuring 108 stupas and Himalayan views on clear days.
Visit Chimi Lhakhang, the Temple of Fertility, associated with Lama Drukpa Kunley.
Explore Punakha Dzong, beautifully located at the confluence of the Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers. Walk across the Punakha Suspension Bridge and hike to Khamsum Yulley Namgyel Chorten for panoramic valley views.
Overnight: Punakha
Drive to the glacial Phobjikha Valley. Visit Gangteng Monastery, an important center of the Nyingmapa school of Buddhism overlooking the valley.
Enjoy the Gangtey Nature Trail, a gentle walk through villages, farmland, and pine forests.
Visit the Black-necked Crane Information Centre, especially rewarding during winter months when cranes migrate to the valley.
Overnight: Phobjikha
After breakfast, drive back to Paro. Visit Ta Dzong, the National Museum of Bhutan, followed by Rinpung Dzong, a historic fortress-monastery.
Spend the evening at leisure in Paro town, exploring cafés and local souvenir shops.
Overnight: Paro
Early morning drive to the base of Taktshang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest). Hike to Bhutan’s most iconic and sacred site, dramatically perched on a cliff above Paro Valley.
After the hike, visit Kyichu Lhakhang, one of Bhutan’s oldest and most sacred temples.
Overnight: Paro
After breakfast, you will be transferred to Paro International Airport for your onward journey. We wish you a safe flight and hope the memories of Bhutan stay with you long after your departure.
