Description

The Soi Yaksa Trek — also called Jumolhari Trek II, Yaksa Trek, or the Jomolhari Loop — provides a remarkable way to experience Mount Jumolhari up close, without the demanding intensity of the full Jumolhari Trek. Its highlight is the breathtaking panorama of Jumolhari from base camp, alongside striking views of Jichu Drake, all while avoiding the extreme elevations of Lingzhi. Although less taxing than the longer route, this trek still ascends to altitudes where acclimatisation is important. The trail winds from Jangothang Base Camp past the turquoise waters of Tshophu Lake (4,380m) and over Bhonte La Pass (4,890m), eventually descending toward Drugyel Dzong. On the second-to-last day, crossing Thombu La Pass (4,380m) rewards trekkers with sweeping vistas of the mighty Kanchenjunga range in Sikkim — a fitting finale to an unforgettable journey.

From there, encounter a second lake before descending into a hidden valley ahead of embarking on a steep climb towards the Bonte La pass, standing tall at an elevation of 4,890 metres. From the pass there are stunning views of Jichu Drake and the skyline of the Bhutan Himalayas perched along the Tibetan border.
